The IABBR operate a studbook directly recorded from the breeds original mother registry studbook. As often refereed to as the ‘CRK Alapaha Blue-Blood Bulldog’. We operate under this studbook which is “closed”. Meaning the breed has been bred for over two decades in it’s purity. Today all IABBR registered Alapaha Blue-Blood Bulldogs descend directly from the original foundation dogs used in the breed’s creation. This is what defines the IABBR and the dogs we register, it is what separates our mission and purpose from the rest and why today we are the leading breed authority for the purebred Alapaha Blue-Blood Bulldog across the globe.
The original mother registry studbook for the purebred Alapaha Blue-Blood Bulldog as used by the IABBR is regarded as the only studbook to have operated as completely closed with yet an extremely diverse gene pool at its foundation. It should be well noted by all that the breed wrongly referred to as the ‘ARF Alapaha’ also called by names such as the original Alapaha and other names such as ‘Lana Line’ Categorically, no longer conforms genetically or photogenically to the original breed created by the originators Ms. Lane and later Mr. Nicholas established under the ARF in 1986-1998.
Pedigree evaluation of all so-called ‘Alapaha Blue-Blood Bulldogs’ registered by the ARF post 2003 show a high level of unregulated crossbreeding practices, namely but in no means limited to; the American Bulldog, Catahoula Leopard Dog and the American Pitbull Terrier… These breeds were infused into some of the last remaining Lana Lane Alapaha Blue-Blood Bulldogs through an ‘open’ and unregulated studbook by the ARF. Defined then as the “ARF Merit Registering Scheme” Any ARF registered Alapaha was not only eligible but also recommend by the ARF to be bred with almost any breed a breed so chose and they could have these crossbred litters registered as Alapaha Blue-Blood Bulldogs all for a $120 sign up fee.
This all took place directly after the passing of Ms. Lane in 2001.Ms Lane was known for her disdain of anyone crossbreeding her dogs, Prior to her death she published a note to regarding her stance of mixing her breed, the ARF went against her expressed wishes and claimed the merit registering of crossbred Alapahas had to be done as a means to rescue Ms Lane’s line from dying out, but yet is lesser known for the reason the ARF wanted to continue to gain revenue from the registering of litters.
As a result of this dishonor to Ms Lana Lane’s wishes by the late Mr Alan Walker of the ARF through this merit registering/cross breeding scheme, Mrs Vivian Lane, executor to her daughters will pursued legal recourse against the ARF. Vivian Lane removed all of Lana’s dog’s from the ARF.
The ARF Merit Registering Scheme all took place in the early 2000’s, and for all intents and purposes saw the complete eradication of Ms Lane’s ‘Original Alapaha’.
From then to now, nothing has changed regarding the practice of breeding ‘ARF’ ‘Lana Line’ ‘Original’ Alapaha. Open studbook entries with no authoritative regulation body regulating breeding have allowed the bastardization to flourish like a rampant virus. Today these dogs that masquerade as ‘Alapaha Blue-Blood Bulldog’ are no more prestigious in lineage than an average mongrel found at your local pound.
THE I.A.B.B.R IS A PUREBRED ALAPAHA BLUE-BLOOD BULLDOG REGISTRY, WE OPERATE ON A CLOSED STUDBOOK. MEANING NO OUTSIDE BLOOD HAS BEEN ALLOWED INTO THE GENE POOL SINCE ITS CREATION FROM THE ORIGINAL FOUNDATION BREEDS.
The following registries are just a few from a long list that operate the registration of Alapaha Blue-Blood Bulldogs on an ‘OPEN’ Studbook and actively allow and/or promote unregulated F1 (first generation cross) breeding at the discretion of any of its member breeders.
